Digg.com is rather famous for being, I would go so far as to say, 85% athiest. And as such, there's a fair amount of religion bashing that goes on there. Most of it is just stupid, and the rest says 'Look at all the terrible things done in the name of religion. Therefore religion should be eliminated'. Everything, if taken or understood in the wrong way, can be twisted from it was originally supposed to do. Yes there are those who interprate the bible in the wrong way, and start spouting crazy things, but that's a small minority of Christians, and the rest of us shouldn't be judged according to them. Yes, there have been terrible things done in the name of religion, but that happens when the truth is distorted.

Another thing that I can't stand, is when people take issues such as global warming and turn it into a moral issue. "You HAVE to support gobal warming otherwise God will hate you forever" seems to be a core thing said by a great many global warming fanatics.

Something that I aways like to think about is something that my Dad told me. "If you pursue something to try to find the ultimate truth, if it's true, it will point to God, be it science, history, math, economics." This was the view of the old scholars, and it's why they weren't afraid to pursue something like science. Some people today seem to think that science is an area that shouldn't be a career for themselves, because they're afraid it might contradict the existence or teaching of God, but it's not true. If it's true, it points to God.

Well, there you have my philisophical blog of the month.

I. Hate. Airports.

Once again, I traveled through an airport this morning. You gotta love the overweight security guard ordering you around, the metal detector that goes off if you have a dime in your pocket, getting stuck in a traffic jam and missing your flight, and experiencing the extrordinary difference that happens in the few feet between security and the sections where the gates are at. Everything was dark, cold, and oppressive, and then suddenly everything becomes happy, cheery, as if people are actually trying to make your trip as easy as possible. Yeah, if you can't tell, I hate going through security. Sure, everyone is a potential criminal, but the difference is, that you're treated as "guiltly until proven innocent" instead of "innocent until proven guilty". That, I think, is the big difference between the private sector, and the public sector.

A most extraordinary thing happened on the way to the airport though. Dad and I are in the car, and have bad luck and run into a huge traffic jam because of some construction. We were inching along. So, you know that side lane that you're not supposed to drive in, and is there for people who have to pull over? While we're sitting there inching along for two miles, every single person in each car keeps looking at that side lane thinking "I really want to just get into that lane, and drive ahead." but nobody did until about the end of mile two. Then some cars(us included) take the risk and hop into the side lane, thus saving a whole lot of time of inching along. Now, about this point everybody's frustrated, and the lane divider lines become almost nonexistant. But, the extraordinary thing was, nobody crashed. It was a perfect example of perfect order within chaos. A really remarkable sight.

My latest project is printing manga. Most of you know how I swore that I wouldn't buy anything from VIZ Media again, after their ridiculous C&D letters they sent out. But, the small problem was, VIZ Media has licensed ALOT of manga, some of which I REALLY want to read. So, my solution is, to to either read it on mangavolume.com for free, or if mangavolume.com doesn't have it, then download it chapter by chapter(A time-taking process) and print it all out. Now, each chapter is between twenty and thirty pages. And the three series I'm doing right now have 49, 108, and 148 chapters. That's ALOT of papter, but definately cheaper than buying each volume.

I've totally lost interest in Harry Potter, and so as soon as the seventh book was released, I read the an entire summary of it on Wikipedia. I'm too lazy to actually read the book. :)

Music Camp

Well, I'm back from music camp, and it was amazing. I met up with someone from I met last year named Ward, and met someone new named Tony. Ward makes puns all the time, so you'll be talking with him, and he'll say something strange, and then fifteen minutes later you'll be like "Oh! I get it now!". He also notices really funny things, like the fact that the choral conductor bears an uncanny resemblance to a chimp. From then on that's all I could think about everytime I looked at her.

Tony really wants to be a tenor, and wants a conquistador. He's also a really funny person, and he had a roommate named Greg who's a jerk, and I despise. We were singing this Brahms piece for choral and the conductor asked us at the beggining of the week to describe the piece as a food. After several people had said things that weren't what she was looking for I said 'dark chocolate' kind of as a joke, but it turned out that was actually the food she was looking for. ALL week she kept making references to dark chocolate, and it was totally ridiculous. Then about Thursday I revealed to Ward and Tony that I was actually the idiot who had suggested dark chocolate, and then ever after that when the conductor would make a reference to dark chocolate Tony would look at me.

On Tuesday we were going to watch a movie, but the building that had the auditorium had a fire alarm go off because of a small grease fire, but during the time we would would have been watching the movie, the entire camp just sat on the ground waiting for about an hour and a half. During that time Tony, Ward, Max, Hae-Joon, and I discussed everything from Macs to the economics of the Pendragon series(Ward, if you're reading this, then I'm right, and the people would be able to overthrow the corporation that controls their lives!).

My family seems to have "misplaced" our digital camera so I had to being the video camera to take pictures, and as a result the pictures aren't very high quality. But, here they are, all edited to make them seem better than they really are!

I got up at 5:30 every morning, so I could beat everyone to the showers, and also for the reason that girls dorms in the morning are some of the most crazy places you will every be, and you do NOT want to be ANYWHERE near them when the girls start waking up. The smell of 15 different bad perfumes all mixed together can be quite sickening you know.

There's so much more I could say, but it would simply take ages to type out. Maybe later I'll add more.

Oh, and Tony, if you happen to be reading this, what happened to you? You disappeared before the final concert!

Fourth of July

Another year, another fourth of july, and another day to contemplate the meaning of the year 1776. Let us all take this day to remember the ideals that this country was founded on. Very interesting point, King George would have given up anything, all import taxes, stamp taxes, etc, in exchange for an accceptance of income tax. But yet in 1913, along comes the income tax. But enough of that. Here's my banner that I made for this fourth of July.

I'm leaving again this Saturday for yet another week, so starting Saturday evening, don't expect to hear from me.

Edit: I fogot something, http://www.shinsen-radio.org/ was just launched. Basically it's an internet radio station that does nothing but stream Japanese and Anime music 24/7. It's also got a place to request songs, and all that. Anyway, I was absolutely thrilled when seeing this!

Oh and one more thing. Maybe some of you remember the old poohblogs site at poohblogs.com, but that domain was FINALLY bought. And is now called Sheeze Community, and from what I gathered is some sort of parent hang out. Anyway, if you google search poohblogs(no space) poohblogs.net comes up above it! I was that, and I was like "Victory!"
