Graphic Design Breakthrough

Hello all, Moderngeek has just made a graphic design breakthrough. I've just figured out how to make images that have fading colors. For examples click HERE, HERE, and HERE. And the colors are not limited to shades of blue. I do it in any color under the sun. I'm so happy because this means I have many more options for graphic design.

I happened to visit the mpaa's(Motion Picture Association of America) website today, and I clicked on this link that said "Click here to help stop internet piracy" and I'm taken to a page that has a form you can fill out reporting someone to the mpaa for piracy. There's places to give that person's address, email, and phone number. I stared at this wondering "how many people actually report others here?" then I thought "you'd have to be a real slimeball to do that" after that it was "wait a minute, if you know someone's address, email, phone number, and know that their illegally downloading things, then you'd have to know that person, and have had to converse with them pretty frequently. You'd have to be a MAJOR slimeball to report someone like this" When I mentioned my definition of freedom in my last post I was largely referring to copyright laws. I can name to you right off the bat four or five times that my Dad hasn't been able to publish a book because a) it's under copyright and the copyright holders won't give him permission to publish it and b) the copyright holder's won't publish it themselves. So nobody's able to read the book, and nobody's happy.

Digg.com(The best tech news site EVER) is now two years old today. Happy birthday digg.com!

Goto go, and fiddle around more with graphics,

Questions for you all

I have this online debate class I take and today some interesting questions came up. I was wondering what your opinions are.

1. What was more important. The Declaration of Independence, or the Constitution?

My own opinion is that the Declaration was way more important, because before the Constitution was made, America was ruled by the Articles of Confederation. Everybody just minded their own business, and everybody was happy. In my opinion the Constitution just made a big and controlling government.

2. Are you willing to risk your life for your freedom and others freedom?

This is a tough question. I thought about it for a long while and came to this conclusion. If we were living under military law, I would be more then happy to risk my life, for my freedom and the freedom of others. I probably would go to certain death if only for the freedom of the others around me.

3. What is your definition of freedom?

My definition of freedom is to be able to think, say, and do what I believe is truly right, without being punished for it. Some people may say "Oh, but what if you believe it's okay to kill somebody?" Well, the fact is that we all have a sense of right and wrong in us, and know that killing people is wrong.

Please answer these questions by comments because I really am interested in your opinions.

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving

Here's something I made for Thanksgiving. Yes I know it's a day late, but who cares.

THE BANNER HAS BEEN REMOVED CLICK HERE TO SEE IT.

Some of the family and extended family(including me) went to go see Casino Royale yesterday. It was a good movie except one thing bothered me. The entire movie had little or no respect for private property. There's this scene in the beginning where Bond breaks into the embassy headquarters of Madagascar, and totally smashes everything. He's a government employed agent so it's like one country just decided to barge into another country and destroy everything. But it was still a cool movie.

As you can see, I've changed my blog layout. I tried to make it match the picture of the lute that I'm using as my blog icon. I wanted to make it look sort of "medievalish". And I'm very happy.

Today is the Friday after Thanksgiving. The biggest shopping day of the year. It's sometimes known as "Black Friday" Thank goodness my family never gets involved in it. We believe in waiting until the week before Christmas before putting decorations up. And then we celebrate the twelve days of Christmas. That way we're not totally sick of Christmas stuff by the time it actually comes.

Well, goto go now

General Stuff

Hello all,

My family's gone to Texas for Thanksgiving, so that's where I am now. We drove fourteen hours in the car to get here.

Continuing my Sting craze, I've found a video of him singing "Come again" on Youtube. To watch click HERE. My favorite line out of all his songs is the last stanza from "Flow My Tears". The stanza is

Hark you shadows that in darkness dwell
Learn to contemn light
Happy are those in hell
Who feel not the world's despite

For some weird reason, I really love those lines. One of the reasons I love Dowland's music is because the music has such a melancholy feel to it, that I really love.

I'm going to be in Texas for the next two weeks, and my project for that time is to get a basic knowledge of PHP. Not the complex, just a basic understanding.

I read this really cool book recently called The Wild Wheel by Garet Garet(No it's not a typo that really is his name). It's about the Ford motor company. Now, I'm not a car person. I didn't read this for learning about cars. I read because I love reading about histories of companies, and the 20th century. I totally loved the book, but it would be really boring to anyone who isn't interested in business and economics.

I've just recently gotten interested in the anime Naruto. Turns out, you can watch all the episodes on Youtube.com. And I think the same goes for all the other popular anime series.

Linux, Firefox birthday, Sting, and other stuff

   Hello all,

I found this ancient computer in the attic the other day, so I booted it up, and I'm going to try running a linux operating system on it. But, this computer is seriously messed, so much, that there's nothing anyone could do to save it. So, I'm going to have to wipe out the hard drive.

Today's is Firefox's second birthday! Exactly two years ago the first stable version of Firefox was released. Thank you Firefox for a terrific browsing experience!

I've been listening the singer Sting play songs by the 16th century composer John Dowland. They're played on a lute which is a medieval instrument. My favorite one is "In darkness let me dwell". You can listen to a sample of it HERE. Make sure to have your speakers on!  I also like "Fine Knacks for lady's which you can listen to a bit of HERE.

I have a Violin recital on Sunday, and a piano recital on the following Friday. I'm busy!

Goto go now,

Halloween Pictures

Hello everyone!

To see my halloween banner click HERE

I know it's a day late, but I wanted to wait so I could post it with my pumpkin picture.

Halloween went great for me. My Google Search costume got TONES of questions, and it was alot of fun seeing everyone's costumes. When I carved my pumpkin I carved it with a big MG(for moderngeek) and(although you can't see it in the picture) put a tiny ™ next to it(which is how I sign my blog posts). Here's a picture.
