The Fiery Princess
Chapter 11: The Fire re-lighted
King Soren was waiting at his castle in Slodinina. Ever since his plot concerning Ardara had failed he had been planning another way to take Celestia. He had heard that since the disappearance of his daughter King Adrian had fallen in health so all Soren had to do was wait until he died. It would then be very easy to take the kingdom of Celestia away from the reign of a young child. But Soren was restless. He wanted Celestia as soon as possible. To distract his mind he arranged a Grand Tournament to be held. Knights would gather and compete and Soren would get beautiful girls from around the country to be given as prizes to the winning knights. Soren rubbed his hands together in gleeful anticipation. It would be an excuse to have a great feast which was something he loved and perhaps finally get his son Matthias interested in war. Soren was pleased.
Ardara had given up struggling even though every nerve in the body was screaming to be let free. Ardara found out through the conversation of the soldiers that some sort of Tournament was going to be held and that she and the other girls in the cart were to be prizes for the winning knights. Ardara was disgusted that she was supposed to just let herself be handed over as a piece of property. In an attempt to escape she started talking to the other girls in the cart saying
"Lets go! We've got to get out of here!"
"Why should be go?" one girl said
"Yes why should we?" another said
"Because unless we leave we're going to be given as prizes to knights who win at the upcoming tournament. It's totally barbaric." Ardara replied hotly annoyed by the frivilous girls
"Oooooo real knights!" One girl said
"I bet they'll dress us up real nicely" another said
"I can hardly wait!" yet another said. With a groan Ardara gave up trying to reason with the witless girls. She figured she'd rather save her sanity then try to escape with those girls.
After hours the wagon came in sight of a huge city with Ardara recognized to be Slodinia. Ardara paniced. She knew that the moment Soren or Matthias saw her, her whole disguise would be blown. She would be recognized and made to marry Matthias. But there was nothing she could do now as the the wagon was rolling through the streets of Slodinia. The wagon stopped infront of what Ardara assumed to be the palace. The soldiers pointed the girls toward a door and Ardara made to follow them. She hadn't gone two steps when the soldier who had taken her from Lehana in the first place grabbed her saying
"You're not over there. You're going to King Soren. He is interested in you" Ardara tried to struggle but the soldiers grip was too strong. Feeling helpless Ardara was led through the castle and into the throne room. King Soren was there and as Ardara was brought before him Ardara kept her head down hoping with every fiber of her body that Soren wouldn't recognize her.
"Well, well, well" Soren said
"This is the girl I've heard struggled with my soldiers. Quite interesting. Most girls would have been glad to have gone." Still keeping her head down Ardara replied with a sudden fire
"Then, my lord they should be the ones to go not me" Soren chuckled and said
"You've got some spirit there girl. Come why do you keep your head down? Lift it up so I can see it" Reluctantly Ardara lifted her head up. The moment Soren saw her face shocked registered on his face.
"How....what......what are you doing here?! Where have you been?!" he said stunned
"I've been hiding in a small town for three years" Ardara replied defiantly
"Oh yes, and there wasn't any kidnapping. I staged it all myself." she added knowing that that would make Soren angry. She was right. Anger appeared on Soren's face but then it disappeared replaced by one of smugness.
"Well princess Ardara" he said
"I have something special planned for you"

OO! I wonder what will happen to her. Will she have to marry Matthias? Will she be a prize! Keep it up, and working around softball and life post more soon!!!
I have a favor to ask of you. I was wondering if you could find me a copy of the blog I posted with my story, the fan fiction one. The computer I was writing it on broke down and all memory was lost. It's ok if you can't.

Muffy's Story
Chapter 1
Muffy walked to the middle of the old wooden bridge, the wind was blowing slightly making the curls in her blonde hair bounce about. She shivered and pulled her jacket tight. Yes it was another cold winter day forget-me-not valley.
Muffy had just moved to forget-me-not valley a little over a year ago. She liked it here everyone had been so nice and kind to her when she first came here. The people at the inn let her eat with them the first night and wouldn’t accept her money. They gave her a room to sleep in with a discount on the price. She even managed to get a job the second day she was here. It was a fairly good paying job, she worked as a bar maid at the local bar. She was the only employee except for of course the owner Griffin. Griffin was probably one of the nicest people in the entire valley. He gave her a job, a roof over her head, food, and on some nights he even played his guitar and let her watch and sing along with him.
A single tear fell into the river below her. Sure Muffy was happy here but there were some aspects of her life she was ashamed of, some secrets she never told, why she moved to forget-me-not valley was one of them. She was very happy but her past haunted her and then there was the fact that she was getting older she was already 30 years old, and she didn’t have a husband or even a boyfriend. Every guy she truly liked either: didn’t like her back, was married, or didn’t take her seriously, and boy did it hurt. She just wanted a nice guy who honestly loved her that she could settle down with.
But sadly in the valley there were few men that were single. Lets see there is Marlin, but it was obvious that Celia one of her best friends liked him and he liked her, there was Gustafa, he was a few years younger then her that was okay but her other best friend Nami liked him so he was out besides she couldn’t stand his ridicules hat, that left Rock, Cody, Daryl, and Carter.
Of course there were other single guys but they were all too old and then Griffin he liked her but like a sister or daughter not romantically.
Rock was okay but was 8 years younger then her, besides he didn’t seem to like girls romantically he just liked them as friends.
Cody was only 6 years older then her, he seemed anti-social to her at first but she then realized he was very gentle on the inside, it just seemed to her that Cody wasn’t her type.
Daryl was 5 years older then she was but he was always performing some experiment or another and constantly rambling on about some monster in the forest, no Daryl defiantly wasn’t for her.
Carter was 11 years older then her which was okay she always liked them a bit older then her, he was charming, fun good natured, humorous, good looking, and nice. He was perfect for her except for a tiny little detail called Flora. Flora was carter’s assistant at the dig site, she was good looking nice, funny, and witty, everything a guy could want she was also clueless that two guys liked her. Yes two. One was Carter the other? The other guy was Daryl the creepy scientist. Well that was everyone she would even ever consider marrying. Oh well her Mr. Right would come along some day.
She snapped back into reality and realized she had been gone for half an hour and thought Griffin might get mad if she was gone any longer. She brushed her hair away from her face and walked quickly to the Blue bar the wind playing with her curls. With the wind blowing her curls back showing off her pretty round face and big beautiful green eyes she looked quite beautiful. She stopped in front of the bar and smoothed down her dress and moved her curls away from her face.
She walked in and apologized for being gone so long. “Griffin I am sorry I was gone so long”. “How long do you think you were gone? It was only half an hour you could have stayed out longer there was only 2 customers anyway so it is no big deal Muffy,” Griffin said trying to calm the young woman down. “If you say so. Who were the 2 customers?” Muffy asked with curiosity.
“Well 3 people came but one just came to talk. Rock came and bought stone oil so did Gustafa. And Takakura came and told me that the whole village was to come to the beach at 9:00 am on the first of spring,” Griffin explained. “Did he say why?” Muffy asked. “Yes someone is going to be taking over that old run down farm,” Griffin said with mounting excitement. “But Griffin I wonder who it will be? A guy or a woman? A relative or a friend of the old man?” Muffy had so many questions. “I don’t know Muffy, I don’t know.”
Chapter 2
Muffy awoke to the sound of birds chirping and singing. She got dressed in her usual red and black dress with her slightly faded denim jacket. She brushed her hair back and put in her black headband.
She hurried down stairs but she didn’t see Griffin. Then it hit her the new villager was arriving today, she checked the clock on the wall in the back room of the Blue bar. 8:30, good she still had time.
She hurried out of the bar and walked as quickly as possible to the beach. There were no clouds in the sky at all. It wasn’t cold but it wasn’t humid either, a perfect spring day. The wind was blowing slightly making the branches on the trees move some. She finaly found herself at the beach; the whole town had turned up.
There was Vesta, Marlin, Celia, Galen, Nina, Wally, his wife Chris and son Hugh, Lumina, and her Grandmother Romana along with their butler were here, Gustafa, Nami, Rock and his parents Tim, and Ruby, Carter, and Flora, Cody, even Daryl had come. Everyone was here.
Takakura was standing infront of everyone and pointing to a small figure in a row boat. The small figure got larger as they got closer. It was a young man about her age, with brown hair rowing the boat. He came and rowed the boat up near the shore and hopped out and pulled it up and tied it to a wooden post.
The young man went up to Takakura and whispered something to him. “Everyone, this is Ray. The dear old farmer’s son. He has come to restore the farm to its former glory. I want you all to welcome him and make him feel at home here in the valley,” Takakure announced. “Hello everyone, I am so happy that I am going to be able to live here, you all look like very nice people,” Ray said.
Muffy looked around her and relized that almost everyone had a welcome gift for Ray. Uh oh, she didn’t have a gift for him. She looked at what Lumina, Nami, and Celia had for him. Nami had a tomato, Celia had some seeds, and Lumina had what looked to be a record. She figured she would make him a cake or some cookies or something when she got home.
The man went around shaking hands and exchanging names with all of the elders and excepting everyone’s gifts and Hugh then he exchanged names with the young people Marlin first, Gustafa, Rock, Nami, Celia, Lumina, and finaly he got to Muffy.
“Hello, my name is Ray,” he said politely. “Hello, my name is Muffy; welcome to the village I hope you will like it here. Sorry I don’t have your welcoming present yet I will stop by your farm though later and give it to you if you would like,” Muffy said her blonde curls bouncing up and down. “Sure, that would be great,” Ray said grinning.
Takakura had said in his letter asking him to take over the farm that he would need to get married before the year was up. He said there were four young women that Ray could marry.
Their names were Nami, ah yes Nami the beautiful red headed tomboyish looking girl, Celia, yes the brunette with the orange bandana and green dress she was cute but she looked a little young for him, Lumina, ah the young teen, she was pretty and seemed nice but she seemed to be too young for him I mean he was 31 years old and she was just a teen, now what was the last ones name? He wondered.
Ah yes Muffy, the blonde one in the red and black dress with the denim jacket. She looked about his age, and she was pretty and seemed like she is full of energy and bubbly and just plain happy. Yes I like her the best from the short meetings I had with the villagers. Ray thought to himself ‘I’m going to marry that girl.’
Chapter 3
Muffy woke up and got dressed then went down stairs to start preparing for the bar to open. As she was coming down she heard a knock on the door, but when she opened it no one was there.
She was about to close the door when she relized there was something in front of it, a package wrapped in brown paper.
She picked it up and saw a slip of paper under the rope tying the paper around the parcel. On it was two words, ‘To Muffy’. ‘Huh,’ Muffy thought to herself. She opened the package and inside was a note and an old coin from the dig site she guessed. The note read.
‘Dearest Muffy, here is an old coin that I got from the dig site for you. I hope you will appreciate it. For some reasons you must not know right now I cannot reveille who I am, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. I hope I can tell you soon.
Love,
A villager.’
‘I wonder who did this. Could it have been Carter? He works at the dig after all. I hope I find out soon. If I don’t I might just go nuts.’ Muffy thought excitedly to herself.
Griffin came in to the main room and mixed up some of the drinks that had to sit for a little bi to taste right. Then he opened up the bar at 10:00 like every other day. They didn’t have any customers though until about 12:00.
You know that phrase ‘When it rains it pours’? Well that was the case with the customers. Gustafa, Rock, Marlin, Galen, Hardy, and that new guy Ray all came for a drink. They made quite a profit seeing as how each man ordered a stone oil, and one stone oil costs 300 gold so they made a total of, 1,800 gold which was a lot for them.
But Ray also brought something else with him. He had with him a gold coin for Muffy. “Here you go Muffy I brought this for you, I hope you like it,” Ray said. “Oh I love it! Sorry I haven’t had a chance thus far to make you that desert yet,” Muffy apologized. “No problem. You can make it up to me by having dinner with me tonight at 7:00.” Ray said jokingly but secretly he did hope she would accept. “Uh just a second let me check.” In a whisper Muffy talked to Griffin. “Hey Griffin can I go out for dinner tonight at 7:00?” Muffy asked Griffin hopefully. “Sure just don’t stay out to late other wise I might start to worry.” Griffin said jokingly. Muffy walked back over to Ray. “Sure where do you want me to meet you?” “Um meet me at my farm.” “Ok see you there!” Muffy smiled to herself as she washed out the sticky residue from Griffins drinks in the dirty cups. ‘Could he be the one who sent me the coin earlier?’ Muffy puzzled through this for the rest of the day.
Chapter 4
Muffy looked at the clock 6:00. “Hey Griffin mind if I take off now?” “So you can get ready for your date? Sure.” Griffin said teasingly. “It is not a date! We are just having dinner.” Muffy protested. “If you leave his farms it’s a date.” Griffin said jokingly. “I’m leaving at 6:30 and don’t expect me back for awhile.” Muffy said.
She went upstairs and changed into her best red and black dress and her newest denim jacket. She cleaned her black velvet headband and set it aside. She washed her face and hair then brushed her hair until it was silky and smooth. She put in her headband, and went downstairs. She went into the actual bar then checked the time 6:15. ‘Good I have time to enjoy the scenery’.
“Muffy wait before you go, while you were upstairs there was a knock so I opened the door but no one was there. There was however a package wrapped in brown paper was it had a piece of paper under the rope tying it together say ‘To Muffy’. Would you know anything about this?” Griffin asked. “Not really but I got a package earlier that looks like this one.” “I wonder.” “Wonder what Griffin?” Muffy asked curiously.
“Oh nothing.” “Come on please tell me?” Muffy pleaded. “It could be from Carter, Ray, Cody, or Rock. They are the only people I know of that use this kind of paper. They have all delivered something to me using this paper.” “Weird well let me open it.” Muffy opened the package and inside was the prettiest pinkish orange ore. “Why that’s a sugar ore,” Griffin said. “Oh it is so pretty.” There was a note this time too. It read.
‘Dear Muffy, I have another gift for you. It is a sugar ore from the dig site. I wish I could get you something better but I am afraid I haven’t much money. I do hope to tell you who I am soon. Ray likes you a lot, I know that. But I do too Muffy. Please wait for me.
Love
A villager.’
‘Oh my. I wonder who it is.’ Muffy thought to herself. “Well I must be going now Griffin. Muffy walked out of the bar after putting her ore up.
She walked quickly to Ray’s farm. She got there and Ray was pushing a cow into the barn. He was wearing a dirty white shirt, brown suspenders, jeans, and some dirty brown shoes. “What’s her name Ray?” Muffy asked. “Bessie, she’s my first cow.” Ray said. “I like that name Bessie. Do you want me to go inside and wait for you?” “Sure I’ll be there in a minuet.” Muffy walked inside of Ray’s house. There was only one room. There was a bed, a Television, a stove, a nightstand with a green book on it, a record player, a grey chest or something, and a mat in front of the door. Ray walked in just then. “Would you mind stepping outside for a moment so I can change?” He asked. “Sure no problem.” Muffy said. A few minuets went by. Then Ray came out. He was wearing a spotless white shirt, clean pants, and nice brown shoes. He looked very nice. “Turn around for a second.” He told Muffy. Muffy obeyed then felt something covering her eyes. It was a bandana. “What is the bandana for?” She asked. “Just trust me.”
Was all Ray said. He then led her someplace away from the farm. She thought she could here the rushing of water. “Here,” Ray said. He took off the bandana. They were in the forest by the waterfall and pond. It smelled so fresh and nice. There must have been twenty flowers around at least. Toy flowers and Goddess drops. The grass was nice and soft and green. He put down a picnic basket and took out a red and white checkered blanket and spread it out.
They both sat down on the blanket and ate a delicious meal. There was a red salad, Ray had brought some fresh mineral water, and for desert some strawberry cake. “This is so good. Did you make it all your self?” “I sure did. I made the salad with three tomatoes that I grew, and the cake with a strawberry, some milk from my cow, and an egg from my chicken.” Ray said proudly.
Ray took Muffy to the beach to watch the sunset. “This is nice isn’t it Muffy.” “It is really pretty I love watching the sunset at the beach.” They talked for a while then Muffy relized how late it was. “I must be going now Ray. I don’t want Griffin to be mad.” “Sure see you soon.” Ray told her. They had thought they were alone but there was someone watching them. ‘How could she! I thought she was my friend but here she is stealing my man! I’ll get her for this.’
Chapter 5
Muffy got back to the blue bar and went up to her room and went to sleep. After she woke up and got dressed she went downstairs to go wait for Griffin to open the bar. But to her surprise Griffin had already opened the bar. “Griffin why didn’t you tell me you were opening early today?” “I didn’t open early you slept late.” Griffin pointed out. “Oh I am so sorry I didn’t mean to.” “It’s no problem. You need to take the day off anyways. One to sort out the deal with the you knows what’s in brown paper. Two Nami stopped by earlier to invite you for lunch with her and Celia at 12:00 on the beach.” Griffin told her. “Oh thank you! Uh oh it is already 11:45 I better hurry. And again thanks for letting me have the day off!”
Muffy went to the beach and found Celia and Nami on a picnic blanket talking and laughing. “Hey girls!” Muffy called to them. “Hi Muffy!” They said in unison. “That new farmer guy is sort of cute don’t you think?” Celia said. “Yeah he is sort of cute but I like Gustafa better. What do you think Muffy?” Nami said while opening the picnic basket. “He’s nice. I had dinner with him last night.” Muffy said gazing dreamily out into the ocean. “You had dinner with him?” Celia asked very surprised. “Yeah it was nothing. We ate in the forest then watched the sunset here on the beach.” “Oh ok. Well he is cute but I like Marlin better.” Celia said, smiling at the thought of Marlin.
“Oh girls there is something I have need to tell you. Yesterday I got two packages wrapped in brown paper with a note under the rope tying it up saying ‘To Muffy’. The first one was a gold coin from the dig site the second was a sugar ore from the dig site. Each package came with a letter.” Muffy told the girls with a serious expression on her face. The girls poured over the letters and everything for awhile. “Well one thing is for sure you have a secret admirer. And I know how to find out who he is.” Nami said happily. “You do how? Oh Griffin mentioned that only Carter, Rock, Ray, and Cody use this kind of brown paper. Others may use it but not to his knowledge.” Muffy stated.
“Okay all we have to do is get those four to write something down on a piece of paper for us. But we don’t want them to know what we are doing so we need to think up a good cover story. Okay for Ray we can tell him it is custom that new villagers do this, Carter will probably be too busy to care, Rock won’t care, I don’t know about Cody. All we can do is hope he won’t mind.” Nami said hopefully. The girls went and took off their shoes to go wading down by the ocean.
“Listen I will give you a hundred gold if you ‘accidentally’ make Muffy fall face down in the mud.” A shadowed figure said from behind the trees. “You can count on me.” Hugh said mischievously. Ray was walking on the beach enjoying the view when little Hugh came running past him. “Move out of the way I can’t stop!” Hugh yelled. He was running and like he said, couldn’t stop. He was headed straight for where the girls were at. Nami and Celia saw him but Muffy didn’t since she was facing the other way, she didn’t hear him because of the ocean. “Ah!” Muffy fell face down in the wet sand she stood up, her hair and face was covered in wet sand. Ray rushed over to help her. “I’m so sorry Muffy! I didn’t mean to. It was an accident. Honest.” Hugh proclaimed. “It’s okay Hugh it wasn’t your fault.” Muffy said trying not to make the boy upset. Hugh then walked off and went back near the trees. “Good job. Here’s your gold.” Hugh walked off with the 100 gold in his pockets. ‘Ha! Now she fell down in wet sand in front of Ray. I will get my man!’ They mysterious figure thought gleefully.
Celia and Nami went and waited while Muffy got cleaned up then went to the inn to get Rock to sign he paper. As they had thought he didn’t care. Then they went to Ray’s farm and he believed the story about new villagers having to do this. Carter was to busy too care. Then they went to Cody’s house. Muffy knocked on his door to his trailer. “Hello what do you need?” He asked the girls. “We just need you to sign this paper.” Nami told him. “What for?” He asked. The girls couldn’t think up a good cover story so they finaly told him the truth. “I guess will do it for you.” Cody signed the paper. The girls were just leaving but Cody held Muffy back. “I hope you find out who it is that likes you.” “Thanks I do too. They seem really sweet, kind and caring.” Muffy told him.
Chapter 6
The three girls went up to Nami’s room at the Inn and sat on one of the beds. “Ok now we have a sample of each guy’s handwriting so this shouldn’t be very hard to find out which one it is.” Nami laid out each sample and both of the letters Muffy had gotten.
Rock’s sample
What’s up babe?
Rock
Ray’s sample
I am doing this because I am the new villager.
Ray
Carter’s sample
Here is this enough?
Carter
Cody’s sample.
Here you go girls hope you find out who it is giving those strange gifts.
Cody
The letter.
Dear Muffy, I have another gift for you. It is a sugar ore from the dig site. I wish I could get you something better but I am afraid I haven’t much money. I do hope to tell you who I am soon. Ray likes you a lot, I know that. But I do too Muffy. Please wait for me.
Love
A villager.
“Carter’s sample and Cody’s are exactly the same!” Celia said shocked. “And they both match the letter so it could be either of them,” Nami groaned. “I just have to find out who this is sending me these gifts.”
“I’m sorry Muffy I would love to help you more but I have to get back to work its 3:00 already. Bye you two take care.” Celia told them and then left and went to Vesta’s farm.
“How about we go back to the bar maybe another gift arrived.” Nami suggested. “That sounds like a good idea. The girls left the Inn and headed to the blue bar.
When they went inside they saw a bouquet of flowers on the counter with a tag saying ‘To Muffy’ on it. “Another gift!” Muffy whispered under her breath just loud enough for Nami to hear so Carter and Cody couldn’t. Nami followed Muffy into the backroom.
“Both Carter and Cody are here! We have to think of a way to find out which one of them it is,” Nami said excitedly. “Come over here we can listen in on them.” Muffy told her. Nami followed Muffy up to her bedroom. Inside there was a bed with a pink comforter and white pillows, a brown oak dresser, a small closet, a chair, a bookcase with yes books they looked like they had been read a lot too they were all worn, a small oval shaped blue rug, and a door leading to Muffy’s small bathroom. Muffy led Nami over to the rug and moved it aside. Underneath it was a small sliding wood panel. Muffy gave Nami the sign to be very quiet. She slowly slid the panel open.
The girls looked down they could see Griffin mixing up a drink then handing it to Carter who had is elbow on the counter and his head resting in his hand, Cody had his hand on his drink, the drinks looked like Stone oils. “Hey Griffin do you think I should ask the lady I like to go out with me?” Carter asked half drunk. “I think you should what is the worst that could happen” Griffin told him. “Do you think I should tell the lady that I like that I like her? The only problem that could come between us is age I am about 6 or 7 years older then her.” Cody asked. He wasn’t drunk it looked like he hadn’t even touched his drink. “I think you should then see how she feels about you.” Griffin told him. “Ok but how should I tell her through a letter, another person, or in person?” Cody asked deeply troubled by these thoughts. “You should tell her yourself Cody. She will like it better.”
Muffy closed the panel and replaced the rug. “Maybe Carter likes me.” Muffy said happily as she walked over to her pink bed and sat down. “It could be him or Cody since they have the same handwriting, and both use the same brown paper, and both like a lady, except Cody likes one younger then him of course then Carter probably does too seeing as how the only lady that is single and older then him is Romana and she is 62.” Nami laughed at the thought of Carter marrying Romana.
“I hope it is Carter he is so charming, pleasant, and polite. Cody is ok but…” Muffy stopped. “Well I have to go now muffy, sorry but Ruby wants me to work in the garden.” Nami told her as she gathered up her stuff which consisted of nothing… “It is no problem I have to get back to work anyways.” Muffy told her. Nami went downstairs and left the bar. Muffy fixed her hair gathered up the handwriting samples and letters and went into the main room. She took the flowers and put them in the water after taking the note off. The note said.
Dear Muffy, I hope you like these flowers. I know you are probably wondering who I am and I am sorry but I cannot tell you yet. I can however speak to you. All you have to do is write down what you want to say to me and place it outside under the matt I will recover it and reply. Take care oh and as a warning a young woman is mad at you for ‘stealing her man’. Just watch out for her. Also Hugh didn’t run into you by accident the young woman paid him to.
Love
A villager.
Muffy tucked the letter away and went behind the counter to work, she cleaned out the dirty glasses and watched customers come and go all though everything seemed to be a blur. All she could think about was Cody, Ray, Carter, and the mysterious young woman. After her shift was over she retired up to her room and went and wrote in her journal and read a part of one of her mother’s favorite books. She went to bed at 9:30 and dreamt about Ray, Carter, Cody and the mystery woman. ‘Who could it be? Celia? No she loves Marlin more then anything. She doubted it was Nami. Nami just didn’t seem like the type of woman who went after farmers. It could be Lumina, but she thought her and Lumina were friends. She should know that she wasn’t trying to steal ‘her’ man.’
Chapter 7
Muffy woke up and quickly grabbed some paper and a pen not caring she was in her nightgown although it really didn’t matter seeing as how it was 6:30 in the morning. If she was going to talk to the person sending her these letters she needed to write her letter.
Hello, you know I really don’t know what to call you. I hope I can meet you soon after all it is almost fall and you have been writing me letters since spring. Well if you like me then I guess I better find out some things about you. What is your favorite color? And what do you look for in a woman?
Muffy
Muffy put her short letter in an envelope and went and took a shower then went downstairs letter in hand. She went outside and placed the letter under the mat. She looked up the sun was rising.
‘You know I think I will take a stroll. Griffin won’t be up for at least another hour.’ Muffy thought. She walked through the town not really noticing where she was walking. After she came out of her half daze she found herself at the beach. ‘Well at least it is a nice place to watch the sunrise.’ She thought. She looked around no one else was around. She saw Ray pushing Bessie outside into the pasture.
There was Vesta standing looking at her crops. ‘Does she ever do anything or does she make Celia do all the work? I never see her or Marlin doing any actual work. Poor Celia.’
Muffy’s thoughts wandered to Lumina. ‘Lumina… I have to go see her right no before I get hurt.” Muffy walked off towards the Villa little did Muffy know but she wasn’t alone someone was watching her but it wasn’t Lumina this time for Lumina was just getting out of bed. When Muff reached the villa she knocked on the door and was a bit surprised when Lumina opened it. “Lumina we need to.” Lumina cut her off. “Talk, yes. Come in.” Lumina opened the door further to let Muffy pass. Muffy started to sit down. “No not here I don’t want to wake Grandma up.”
Lumina led the way up to her sitting room. Muffy walked in and sat down on the couch like window seat. “Now then Lumina I know all about you thinking I was stealing ‘your’ man.” “So then how long have you known?” Lumina asked trying to sound as if she didn’t care. “I found out yesterday. And I want you to know. I don’t like Ray as anything but a friend. Believe me.” Muffy told her. “Yeah that’s why you had a romantic dinner with him in the forest and he keeps leaving you gifts at your door step.” Lumina scoffed. “What? Ray hasn’t been leaving those gifts. I got a sample of his hand writing his is totally different then that of the letter writer’s.” Muffy explained. “Well then maybe he can switch handwriting styles because I see him leaving stuff there.” “He must be helping Cody or Carter then!” Muffy got excited. “What? Why Cody or Carter?” Lumina asked quite confused, so Muffy explained the whole thing to her. “So friends?” Muffy asked. “Friends,” Lumina agreed.
Muffy went back to the bar to find not a package but just a letter.
Dear Muffy, my favorite color is silver. I hope to meet you soon in fact I can meet you on the 6th. On the 6th of fall go to turtle pond at 10:00 am. I will be there; the only catch is someone else will also be there. You can ask us both questions about ourselves. You must try and guess which one of us I am. I have trust in you that you will figure out who the ‘real’ me is.
Sincerely
C
Muffy re-read the letter twice then pocketed it.
She looked up just in time to see Ray walking over to her. “Hey Muffy I was wondering,” Ray sot of stuttered he then pulled out a blue feather. ‘Oh no! He can’t want to marry me! I can’t break his heart but I really don’t want to hurt him but I don’t love him.’ Muffy thought worriedly. “Ray are you proposing?” “What? Proposing? Uh oh did I give off the wrong impression? I guess it would look like I was going to ask you to marry me. But no I don’t love you Muffy, I’m sorry.” Ray was worried he had just broken her heart. “Yay!” Muffy squealed. “You mean I didn’t just break your heart?” Ray asked relived. “Break my? No, heavens no.” “Good because I always just wanted to be your friend. I was wondering if you thought I should give this to Lumina. I love her Muffy,” Ray confessed. “You should. Follow me.”
Muffy rushed off to the Villa with Ray close behind. When they got there she told him to wait out here. “Wait out here but stay hidden and stay on the right side of the house.” Muffy told Ray. Muffy walked in the Villa and went over to Lumina. “Lumina you know I don’t love Ray right?” “Yeah I guess.” “Well there is only one problem then standing between you two dating.” “What? Did he propose to Celia or Nami?” Lumina started to cry. “No but he is in love with a woman.” Lumina started crying even more. “Here why don’t you walk with me?”
Muffy and Lumina walked outside. “The woman Ray loves is,” Muffy beckoned Ray to come over. “Who does he love?” Lumina asked wiping her eyes. Ray walked up behind her blue feather in his hands. “You,” he said as he placed the feather in her hair. “What?” Lumina spun around all most whacking Ray in the nose. “You.” “Do you really mean it Ray?” She asked disbelievingly. “Yes I do.” Ray bent down and kissed his soon to be wife on the forehead. Lumina gently pulled his head down and kissed him. “Believe it or not that was my first kiss.” Ray confessed. “Believe it or not I’ve have had a boyfriend and that was my first kiss as well.” Ray lifted Lumina up and walked with her in his arms to his farm so she could see it. Muffy walked back to the bar.
The next few days all seemed a blur up until the 5th that is. It was the day of the festival. Muffy had the morning off. But all she did was sit in the back room thinking about the next day. She had sent and received many letters from ‘C’. It was 11:30 the festival would start in half an hour.
All of a sudden Marlin comes bursting through the back room door. “Muffy I need your help. Do you think I should propose to Celia at the festival today?” He asked worriedly his hands running through the pretty green marriage feather in them. “I think it would be very romantic to do it at the end of the festival.” Muffy was very happy two of her friends would be getting married to the people they loved more then life itself. “Ok thanks Muffy.” Marlin left as quickly as he had come. The festival started. In came Ruby Celia, Marlin, and Vesta. After everyone had eaten and the food had been cleaned up Marlin said.
“Ahem.” Everyone looked over at him. Marlin got down on one knee infront of Celia. “Celia will you marry me?” He held up the green feather. “Oh Marlin!” Marlin stood up and Celia hugged him so tightly. “Of course I will!” Everyone clapped. “I think this calls for drinks! Come on everybody it’s on the house!” Griffin said. “Hey Muffy I know who has been sending you these letters.” Griffin whisper so just Muffy could hear. “What you do who is it?” “You can find out tomorrow.” Was all he told her.
The next day at 10:00 am Muffy walked to turtle pond. “Muffy can you come over here?” A familiar voice asked. “Cody is that you?” Muffy turned around there was Cody and Carter. “So now what? Do I have to guess which one of you has been sending me letters? “Yes.” They both said at the same time. She asked each of them a series of questions finaly she said. “I know who it is.” Carter and Cody looked at each other. “Cody, you haven’t been sending me these letters. Carter it’s you.” Muffy ran over to Carter and hugged him. They walked off leaving Cody there staring at them. Carter had his hand around Muffy’s waist. They called a quick goodbye to Cody. They walked off laughing and talking. A single tear rolled down Cody’s face. “Muffy, it’s me. I was the one sending you letters. Cody whisper hoarsely. Cody let another tear hit the ground. He walked up to his trailer and slammed the door.
